Villa TT

Villa TT applies traditional Kainuu region wood building with methods of contemporary architecture.

The holiday house is composed of two parts.

One part of the building is a log structure, the other is board-and-batten clad.

The client 's ambition was a holiday house employing traditional materials.

The sauna is inserted into the slope and the green roof continuing on top of it is the only part of the yard that requires some maintenance.

The hand carved logs are a strong throwback to traditional ways of building.

The traditional materials combine with modern steel and glass detailing.

The steel columns are present through-out the house.

Indoor materials are dominated by slate and wood.

The warm natural shade of the wood provide a very homey atmosphere.

The building uses a custom "hung" log structure, which is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional vertical log structure. This has enabled the
use of large glazed sufaces below the log frame.

Carefully designed lighting finishes the building.
